What is wrong with people, these are kids.

Twas the Night Before Fitzmas

Twas the night before Fitzmas, and in the White House
Every one was scared shitless, and Bush was quite soused
The indictments were hanging like Damoceles' sword
As verminous oxen prepared to be gored

Fair Elections

Florida has 510,000 signed petitions to redistrict the state fairly, it needs 750,000. Please read, sign, and mail the three petitions to support fair elections in Florida.
This is something everyone should agree upon, regardless of your political affiliation.

Book'em Danno

Creaming in my Pants.
"Travis County court officials said DeLay was ordered to appear at the Fort Bend County jail for booking."
Yes folks, Delay has to turn himself in about a mile from where I used to live in Sugar Land. This totally makes up for the sic years I spent looking at "Tom Delay 22nd Congressional District" signs.

Choices

Condoleezza Rice:
"The fact of the matter is that when we were attacked on September 11, we had a choice to make. We could decide that the proximate cause was al Qaeda and the people who flew those planes into buildings and, therefore, we would go after al Qaeda ... or we could take a bolder approach."
ScottW714:
"We could get the son-of-a-bitches responsible, Al Qaeda, or we could take a 'bolder approach' and invade a virtually terrorist-free country at a cost of 2000 American soldiers lives and over 200 billion dollars."
Real hard choice Condi, real fucken hard.

Instant Karma

Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right in the head
- John Lennon

"In an interview yesterday, Wilson said that once the criminal questions are settled, he and his wife may file a civil lawsuit against Bush, Cheney and others seeking damages for the alleged harm done to Plame's career.

If they do so, the current state of the law makes it likely that the suit will be allowed to proceed -- and Bush and Cheney will face questioning under oath -- while they are in office. The reason for that is a unanimous 1997 U.S. Supreme Court decision ruling that Paula Jones' sexual harassment suit against then-President Bill Clinton could go forward immediately, a decision that was hailed by conservatives at the time."
Is it just me or do the rest of you get all warm and fuzzy inside when conservatives get hammered by their own rules ?? Go check it out.

Gore and the World Today

Gore is not running for Prez in 2008, but he had some really interesting things to say about the country had he been elected in 2000.

"We would not have invaded a country that didn't attack us,"

"We would not have taken money from the working families and given it to the most wealthy families."

"We would not be trying to control and intimidate the news media. We would not be routinely torturing people," Gore said. "We would be a different country."
Of course the RNC is appalled, go read.

Anti-Torture Legislation

AP News:
Delivering a rare wartime slap at Pentagon authority and President Bush, the GOP-controlled Senate voted 90-9 on Wednesday to back an amendment that would prohibit the use of "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment" against anyone in U.S. government custody, regardless of where they are held.
It's about time out elected officials did something great, well except for this cracker:
We do not have ... systematic abuse of prisoners going on by our United States military," - Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala

Hitler Would be Proud

Can this country get any more screwed up, seriously ?
Of course, when republicans are running the show.
"An interim legislative committee is considering a bill that would prohibit gays, lesbians and single people in Indiana from using medical science to assist them in having a child."
It gets worse:
"A doctor cannot begin an assisted reproduction technology procedure that may result in a child being born until the intended parents have received a certificate of satisfactory completion of an assessment required under the bill."
And by parents, they do mean married man and woman.

Generally speaking, people who spend that kind of money, usually have the means and the desire to make very good parents.

The Fear & Loathing in Me

A student in Kitty Hawk, NC was working on a class project when the Secret Service showed up to interview him and his teacher. The project was about the Bill of Rights and dissident. Apparently the kid took some pictures of a Bush picture that he defamed (put a thumbs down picture on it) to Walmart to get developed and they called the cops.

What a fucking joke our government has become. A student learning about our freedoms is tracked down by the Secret Service because of a anti-Bush photo. How exactly is that teacher suppose to reconcile her lesson about freedom and the Secret Service intervention ?

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. -Thomas Jefferson

OMG

Yahoo News, "School Expels Girl for Having Gay Parents"

This is a quote I love to use, "Jesus was a bleeding heart liberal, for christ sake." Yes, I have been told I am going to hell for that one, often, but that doesn't make it any unless true.

Society & Religion

Go check out Carpetbagger, he has some extremely interesting comments on religion and society.
"While this goes on, 45 million Americans go without health care, and 12.7 percent of Americans live below the poverty line. A truly religious nation would not tolerate that."
"In many ways, those godless heathens in Western Europe act more like Christians than most Americans."
Just some food for thought.
